Key Findings Overview
As part of the NBCUniversal Evolution Plan's environmental review process,
an extensive impact report was completed. The Draft Environmental Impact
Report (DEIR) analyzed 15 areas such as Air Quality and Public Services and
investigated how those areas will be impacted as a result of the NBCUniversal
Evolution Plan.
The Draft Environmental Impact Report Marks an
Important Milestone for the NBCUniversal Evolution Plan
The Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) marks an important milestone for
the NBCUniversal Evolution Plan. The City and County of Los Angeles, with the
assistance of an independent environmental consultant, Matrix Environmental, completed
the DEIR and released the document for a 60-day public review and comment period. The
City of Los Angeles Department of City Planning is the lead agency responsible for the
preparation and distribution of the document. The County was also integrally involved
in preparing the DEIR.
A DEIR is designed to identify any potentially significant environmental impacts
of a project and any feasible mitigation measures or alternatives which may be adopted
to reduce or eliminate those impacts. In some cases potentially significant environmental
impacts can be mitigated. In other cases when potentially significant environmental
impacts cannot be fully mitigated to less than significant levels, the impact is deemed
a significant and unavoidable environmental impact of the project.
The DEIR base report is approximately 2,500 pages with additional volumes with
technical reports summarized in the DEIR. Key findings of the NBCUniversal Evolution
Plan DEIR are summarized here with the full report available at the City of Los
Angeles, Planning Department website.
